Reptile Rescue

Visit the Reptile Rescue Website

OK, So I have just visited these guys and I was so impressed that I felt I should have a page dedicated to them.

Although the place I visited do not take in terrapins they are currently in charge of Clare and Richards terrapin rescue in Leconfield, and with them being so local I thought a quick visit wouldn't go a miss.

I was greeted by a guy called Anthony who was absolutely fantastic, really friendly, the front room had been taken over by many large vivariums which were all set up to the highest standard with ample space for each of the occupants. There was a real range of reptiles in when we visited from a monitor right down to frogs. Anthony does not keep any reptiles for himself but all that are taken in are kept for three months before they can be rehomed.

He has a license to give medication to reptiles and has nursed many reptiles back to full health after abuse, with the help of keen volunteers and his partner Clare.

As well as being a full time builder, dad and rescue centre, Anthony also works hand in hand with the RSPCA as a witness for animal cruelty cases also taking most abandoned reptiles they come across into his care.

He even finds time to do shop inspections and really is quite the activist.

I hope and believe we will now be working along side Anthony, Clare and Clare (terrapin rescue) to make changes to the way terrapins are being kept and sold.

Hopefully within the next week I will have chance to meet Clare at the terrapin rescue in Leconfield which I am really looking forward to. Reptile Rescue are currently building an extension for more space for vivariums and enclosures, I intend to pay another visit when this is finished just to have a look around.

If you would like to help Anthony by reporting a shop/person for poor housing conditions for terrapins or other exotic animals then please email me on terrapin.tank@hotmail.com with the subject 'reptile rescue.' Although you can contact Anthony and Clare directly by the contact information found on their website please refrain from doing this unless it is an emergancy.

I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more from Reptile Rescue, but in the mean time....

Keep up the good work!
