On 14th September 2007, the Andover Advertiser ran a news article titled "Freed pets threat to lakes" which detailed a sighting of what is thought to be a large RES. "The creature was spotted at the weekend by Daniel Powell, aged 28, while he was out dog walking at Anton Lakes. It scuttled off when approached by the dog." Although the details are a little off in the article and there is a note that it "could threaten wildlife, pets and children", after speaking to the editor, this is more to cover themselves in case someone is hurt. They were working from the information given to them, and seemed very interested in what I had to say about the turtle. Hopefully it will continue to live peacefully, although there is apparently a rough estate nearby and the children from there may cause a problem, although hopefully the turtle will continue to "slide" into the water for safety if approached.
