To see your terrapin here, join our online forum and see the details on how to enter.

Welcome to the new and improved Terrapin Tank website, home to the new Hull Terrapin Rescue, please see the rehoming page for more information on that.

Terrapins make fantastic pets, they are full of character and are brilliant to watch. Although the tiny hatchlings may be cheap, housing them is certainly not, especially when they are full size… something to bear in mind. The other thing to remember is terrapins can live for up to 40 years reaching sizes as big as 14inches (dependant on species and sex - some get even bigger). They require a lot of maintenance and care, but if you are committed, the rewards are obvious.

Before you go any further into the site we request that you consider how committed you are to wanting a terrapin.  They are not easy to rehome (we know) and do require a lot of space.

I got my two Yellow Bellied Sliders in January 07 and was shocked how little information is available on the little creatures. Thanks to all the brilliant people I have met since I began this website I have been able to learn and create a fantastic base for you to start on your terrapin research and have since then started to run my own rescue which would not be possible without all of the support I have received.  We are always striving to be accurate, so if you feel that you have a correction to make, or a new caresheet to submit, please do not hesitate.  We appreciate that with time, information and advice changes and we welcome constructive criticism.

Don’t forget to check out the online forum, the best place to go for interactive advice and chat, moderated by a friendly helpful team for your safety, if you are under 13 please check with your parents first.
