Terrapins make fantastic pets, they are full of character and are brilliant to watch. Although the tiny hatchlings may be cheap, housing them is certainly not, especially when they are full size… something to bear in mind. The other thing to remember is terrapins can live for up to 40 years reaching sizes as big as 14” (some even bigger than this - dependant on species and sex - some get even bigger). They require a lot of maintenance and care, but if you are committed, the rewards are obvious.
Before you go any further into the site we request that you consider how committed you are to wanting a terrapin. They are not easy to rehome (we know) and do require a lot of space.
I got my two Yellow Bellied Sliders in January 07 and was shocked how little information is available on the little creatures. Thanks to all the brilliant people I have met since I began this website I have been able to learn and create a fantastic base for you to start on your terrapin research.
